Swagelok offers two classes of valves, general service valves and severe service valves. General service valves feature a forged body with the packing up high on the stem, so the stem threads are exposed to the system media. The severe service valve is made from solid bar stock and has a union bonnet design that prevents the valve from being accidentally disassembled. The packing is below the stem threads, so the lubricant is protected from the system media.
